How long does SEO take to show results?

For most sites, meaningful movement takes three to six months, and competitive terms can take a year or more. New content needs to be crawled, indexed, and then tested against existing results before it settles into a position. There is no honest way to guarantee week-one rankings.

The timeline depends on where you start. A site with technical problems, thin content, and no links moves slower than one that just needs better pages. Fixing a crawl issue can help within days. Building the authority to rank for a popular term takes months of consistent publishing and earned links.

Anyone promising the top spot in a week is selling something. Google itself says it can take months to see the effect of good SEO work. Treat that as the realistic baseline.
