Can AI replace my team?

Not wholesale, and that's usually the wrong goal. As of 2026, AI reliably takes over repetitive, well-defined tasks and speeds up skilled work, but it still needs people to set direction, judge quality, handle exceptions, and own the outcome. The teams that win use AI to do more, not to shrink.

AI is strong at drafting, summarizing, classifying, and first-pass analysis. It's weak at accountability, taste, and knowing when it's wrong. Hand it the volume work and keep humans on judgment, relationships, and the decisions that carry real consequences.

The realistic shift is leverage: a small team that uses AI well can produce what used to take a much larger one. That's an argument for raising ambition, not just cutting headcount.
